James McCann, a noted horticulturist and his wife Mary built a house on Old Lilac Lane on Lot 18 circa 1900 on land bought from Samuel Billings. James ran a florist business and designed the Coronation Gardens at the Gloucester Town Hall on Metcalfe (Bank) Street.
